I will definitely be back here. Jorgess M. The Book Collector is my dream book store. As tiny as it is in here, they have the best collection of books, ranging from modern autobiographies of celebrities now and celebrities from a million years ago. However, my favorite is the collection of classic books. This is THE place for me. The owner of the store is wonderful — very helpful, knowledgeable, and just an overall great man.

He helped me search for the books I was interested in, conversed with me, and gave me his two cents on certain books I liked that. His employees are just as wonderful and helpful — they have been trained well — they greet every single person that walks into the store with a very sincere smile.

Besides their books, their customer service helps them keep and make new customers. Every time I go there, I see a variety of customers browsing around and leaving the store very satisfied. Personally, what really attracts me to this store is that I really feel like I am at a bookstore from the olden days. The smell inside the store contains that old, musky, dusty odor that I like. I will never tire of this store and I will always keep coming for more.

Which just goes to show that The Book Collector has something for everyone— and they can even lead you straight to it. Noelle W. I love this bookstore— they are one of the only places I buy books anymore. My first experience in the store was about 3 — 4 years ago, and simply delightful. It was a cold and rainy Saturday, and I was off to meet a friend at Temple Coffee.

I wandered in for a quick second in hopes of having a «serendipity» moment, and having a book float off the shelf to meet me. My friend and I had decided that we were hopeless ignorant young adults, and needed to become enlightened quickly. Being short on time, I explained my predicament to the clerk.

This lead to 20 minutes of pure bliss seated on the floor like a child, pouring over the works of Whitman, Frost, Poe, Hughes, and others. The most treasured books were older, clothbound darlings that could only be provided by a used bookstore. The bookstore itself is old enough to be quirky and homey— not rundown. They have a wonderful selection of poetry and local authors, which I absolutely love. Every time I go in there I find at least 10 books, all ancient and clothbound, just worn enough to be treasures instead of junk.

Since that first encounter, each clerk has been just as friendly and helpful as the last, and everything is reasonably priced. Stephanie H. A book store just like we like it, stuffed and a little messy. Prices are reasonable, will go back for sure!

Frank G. Rivkah S. What is not to love about this store? There are hidden treasures in every nook and cranny of this tiny space, located in the heart of Midtown. In addition to used treasures, there is a great variety of poetry from local poets, and the best gift of all? The little « poems for all» that are freely handed out. Jon M. Before that, a book on how to create various Native American tools, instruments, and pottery… six bucks. I find myself wandering over to the philosophy section, frequently dumbfounded and not knowing where to begin. I remember being younger and shop owners taking money from me for transactions, counting back the change, and the like.

I like this place a lot. The kid likes this place a lot. Matt C. This store is smaller than the other downtown used book stores, and the selection is correspondingly smaller too.

Doug W. Let me start off by saying I Love The Hansens. Richard and Rachel are 2 of my favorite people in Sacramento. They are friendly helpful and very knowledgeable, not to mention the support they give to local artists writers and poets. I used to have a bookshop in Sacramento years ago and I still shopped ay their store. Good selection great prices and 2 of the nicest people in the business.
